Rounding the Cube with Feng Shui

Feng Shui is just as important in your office cubicle as it is in your home. You spend a lot of time each day working at your desk in your office cubicle, so you should do everything possible to bring positive energy and good fortune into your work space.

Clean First

One of the first steps you should take before incorporating Feng Shui into your cubicle is to give your entire work space a good cleaning. This includes all of your drawers and cabinet spaces. Everything that is on your desk surfaces, with the possible exception of your computer equipment, should be placed in a box, and you should get rid of anything that you do not need. This can give you a good starting point, as well as a clean slate for rearranging your cubicle in a more harmonious fashion. Replace everything in an orderly and logical arrangement.

Desk and Computer Placement

If at all possible, try to rearrange your desk and computer so that you are facing the entrance to your cubicle. In this way, you will be in the position of power within your cubicle. In this position, you will be welcoming the good chi instead of blocking it, and you won't have the stress that is created by having your back facing towards the door. If there isn't any way you can rearrange things, then hang a mirror on the opposite wall of your cubicle, so that it will not only attract good chi, but also so that you can see others as they enter your cubicle.

Create the Illusion of Windows

Although cubicles don't include windows, by hanging some landscape prints or photos, especially of water landscapes, on your cubicle walls, you will create the illusion of windows. This can help create a peaceful environment, and even though they aren't the real type of windows through which chi can flow, it will still help you feel more comfortable.

Add Plants and Water

Green plants within your cubicle area will help remove negative chi. Vertical plants such as bamboo represent money, so if you want to prosper in your career, place a bamboo plant near the entrance to your cubicle. Water is a symbol of prosperity and abundance, and moving water is what is used to bring these two things to you. You can add this to your cubicle by including a small desktop water fountain in your work space, which will also create a relaxing and calming influence within your cubicle.

The Wealth Area

If you stand in the doorway to your cubicle, your wealth area is located in the upper left-hand corner of your cubicle. Place a picture or unique metal wall art of a water scene in this corner, or you might prefer to locate a water fountain in this area. Everything in this corner of your cubicle should represent wealth, so you could also have a shelf of wealth creation or business knowledge books in this area, as well as inspirational quotation wall art plaques.

Benefits

Once you have optimized your cubicle space with Feng Shui, you should feel more at ease in your work space, and better able to focus on your tasks. You should also notice an increase in your feeling of power, efficiency and motivation.
