Organizing Tips: Easy Ways to Organize and Display Jewelry
67
Jewelry boxes are decorative and handy, but few are adequate enough to hold numerous necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings, and they are not always ideal for organizing. Jewelry organizers with sufficient room for rings are not always designed for organizing dozens of necklaces, and those with hangers for necklaces are not made to hold numerous rings. The ending result is tangled necklaces lying in the bottom of the jewelry box and unorganized pieces that are difficult to find.
Instead of purchasing an expensive jewelry armoire for organizing an entire collection of jewelry or a half dozen jewelry boxes for organizing different types of jewelry, consider the following craft tips and jewelry organizing tricks. It is possible to make handy organizers for storing and displaying rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, turning them into useful and decorative wall art.
Corkboard Pierced Earring Holder
Pierced earrings become separated and lost in jewelry boxes, and organizing them becomes next to impossible. Pierced earring holders work well for organizing smaller earrings, but they typically do not hold many pairs. Instead of sifting through piles of mismatched earrings and tangled necklaces, begin organizing pierced earrings on a corkboard tile. Single corkboard tiles can be purchased from home improvement stores, and they can be trimmed with colorful ribbon.
Create ribbon accents by wrapping two half-inch wide satin ribbons around the back of the corkboard, and tie pretty bows at opposite corners. Hang it on a wall, and push pairs of pierced earrings into the cork to keep them organized and at hand. Store the backs nearby in a decorative holder. As long as the earrings are pushed back into the cork after use they will never end up misplaced again, and best of all they will add appeal and interest to a bedroom wall.
Handy Plaster Ring and Bracelet Holder
To make a simple plaster holder for organizing rings and bracelets you will need plaster of Paris, a latex glove, a finished block of wood, epoxy glue, and few sturdy pushpins. The ring and bracelet holder can be decorated with false nails and flesh-colored latex craft paint and gloss if desired, or the plaster hand can be painted in a whimsical way with bright colors and unique designs. Mix plaster of Paris according to product label instructions, and pour it into a clean latex glove approximately an inch from the top. Hold the glove by the edge until the plaster begins to set, and hang it up and out of the way using pushpins until the plaster becomes completely solid. Remove the latex glove from around the plaster, and decorate the jewelry holder as desired. Sand the base of the hand to make it level, and glue it to a block of finished or painted wood in an upright position using strong epoxy. Use this decorative plaster hand for organizing and holding rings, bracelets, and other jewelry.
Decorative Pushpin Necklace Organizer
Necklaces are easily tangled, and organizing strands of different lengths is not always easy. Create a corkboard wall organizer for necklaces by attaching four or more corkboard squares to a wall. In a girl’s or teen’s room, consider cutting the corkboard into simple flower shapes and combine them with butterfly metal wall art to create a fun display. Use decorative pushpins to suspend necklaces from the corkboard. This decorative pushpin necklace organizer will add a touch of color and style to an empty wall while providing a tangle-free way of storing and organizing necklaces of various lengths.
Use your sense of creativity to further embellish these unique jewelry organizers. With a few simple embellishments they can become a part of the decorating scheme. Your favorite jewelry will be free from tangles and will be easy to find. Add your own personal touches, and transform these easy ways of organizing jewelry into interesting and decorative accessories that will add appeal and interest to the home.
