Corner shelves added over the bathtub can provide plenty of space for storing bath supplies and toiletries, or to display candles to add a relaxing ambiance to the bath. Some bathtub surround units even have built-in corner shelves. There are also corner shelving units that have suction cups on the back so that you can stick them in the corner of shower enclosure, right against the tile or plastic wall surface. A free-standing decorative corner shelving unit can also be used in the bathroom to store towels and other items.

Glass shelves also look very elegant, as do mirrored corner shelves.

Add Kitchen Storage Space

Short free-standing corner shelving units are great for the kitchen, allowing the utilization of small areas of floor space. Try adding one beside the stove to hold a basket of pot holders and trivets, or use one in a corner to hold baskets of vegetables such as onions and potatoes. Since a free-standing corner shelving unit usually has three legs, they can sometimes be a bit unstable on carpeting, but since kitchens usually have hard floor surfaces, they are quite suitable. If the kitchen is short on floor space, you can also add wall-mounted corner shelves to add more storage and display space.

There are also smaller wall-mounted corner bookshelf units which can be hung close to a favorite reading chair to keep books handy. Accent them with butterfly metal art or coffee cup metal artwork to add some style to your reading nook.

If you have a home media room, or simply have some audio or television equipment that you wish to get the best possible sound from, there is often a need to place speakers around the room.
